India Plans High-Tech Waiver From Mandatory BIS Certification Rules

India Plans High-Tech Waiver From Mandatory BIS Certification Rules

India wants high-tech companies to get parts from anywhere in the world more easily.

Right now, some imported parts need special quality approvals.

The government says these approvals can take too long.

This may be especially difficult for semiconductor companies, which use many different components.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said a chip company may need 13,501 components.

The proposed rules would remove mandatory certification requirements for high-tech sectors.

The government also wants to build special industrial parks for international manufacturing partnerships.

It says these steps could make supply chains stronger and help Indian companies manufacture in more countries.
