Bombay High Court Sets October Hearing on Maharashtra SIR Plea

The Bombay High Court agreed to hear a case about checking voter lists in Maharashtra.

This checking process is called the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.

Two businessmen filed the petition.

Their lawyer said many people could lose their names from the voter list.

The petition does not ask the court to stop the checking process.

Instead, it asks officials to explain why and how the process is being carried out.

The petitioners say the Election Commission of India should not make final decisions about citizenship.

They want eligible voters protected and wrongly removed names restored.
