Study examines sustainability education in India's building courses

Study examines sustainability education in India's building courses

Some researchers looked at what Indian college students learn about making buildings good for the planet.

The study was done by two groups, the Global Green Growth Institute and the National Productivity Council.

They checked classes in architecture, engineering, and energy studies.

India has more than 4,000 engineering colleges and over 300 architecture schools.

The study found that students did not have a special class just about energy-saving buildings.

Students already know a little about sustainability and want to learn more.

Some topics, like carbon markets and climate finance, are barely taught.

Architecture classes teach more about green buildings than other classes do.

Several schools agreed to talk about adding new lessons on these topics.

This could help future builders create cleaner, greener buildings.
