Dr Reddy’s Launches First Generic Pataday Extra Strength in US
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, a big pharma company, has launched a generic version of the popular Pataday Extra Strength eye drops in the US.
This is the first time a generic version of this product is available.
The eye drops help with itchy eyes caused by things like pollen and animal hair.
The company already sells lower-strength versions of the same medicine.
They are excited about this new product and think it will help them work better with their retail customers.
The original Pataday brand made about $70 million in sales last year.
The company’s stock price went up a tiny bit after this news.
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories launched the first generic version of Pataday Extra Strength eye drops in the US.
The generic version is sold as olopatadine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution USP 0.7%, approved by the FDA.
The eye drops provide temporary relief from itchy eyes caused by allergens like pollen and animal dander.
This launch expands Dr Reddy’s existing US OTC eye-care portfolio, which includes lower-strength versions of olopatadine.
The company’s Pataday brand recorded US sales of about $69.9 million in 2025.
