Indian Railways Plans Major Water Safety Overhaul Across Stations

Indian Railways Plans Major Water Safety Overhaul Across Stations

Indian Railways is the big train company in India.

It provides drinking water to people at train stations.

Some of that water was not clean.

A special government checker called the CAG found tiny germs called E. coli in water at eight stations.

E. coli can make people sick.

So Indian Railways wants to fix this problem.

They will put new water filters at about 20,000 places, including station water coolers.

They will also clean water tanks and test the water regularly.

The Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, told officials to start fixing things right away.

This will help make sure the water people drink at stations is safe.
