Delhi Plans Student PG Portal, Inspects 100 Properties
Delhi plans to create a website to learn where students live in paying guest homes.
The portal will collect basic information, such as how many rooms a place has and what amenities it offers.
Officials say this information can help them regulate these homes.
Delhi University and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi are expected to test the portal soon.
Teams from the city corporation and the Delhi Development Authority will inspect 100 properties over three days.
Officials are also reviewing rules that can affect whether PG homes operate legally.
One proposed safety step is to have cameras in shared areas and at entrances and exits.
The plans followed a tragic incident in Satya Niketan, and the committee will meet again after Dussehra.
