Himachal Says 10,000 Teachers Hired, 4,000 More Planned

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state had hired more than 10,000 teachers in three years.

He said 4,000 more teachers would be hired in the next six months.

The state has opened more than 150 CBSE schools, and about 2,000 teachers have been appointed to them.

Another 300 state-board schools are being improved as Schools of Excellence.

Sukhu said Himachal Pradesh had moved from 21st to fifth in a quality-of-education ranking.

He also announced a scheme that would give eligible women ₹1,500 a month.

Eligible families would also receive up to 300 units of free electricity under the scheme.

The government said it was prioritizing education and healthcare.
