Congress Nandigram Nominee Remanded in Jail Until October 5

Congress Nandigram Nominee Remanded in Jail Until October 5

Milan Pradhan is the Congress candidate for an election in Nandigram.

A court in West Bengal ordered him to remain in judicial custody until October 5.

The case against him was registered 19 years ago.

He was arrested on September 18 over several charges, including murder.

The charges are connected to the 2007 Nandigram land agitation.

His lawyer said they will challenge the order in the Calcutta High Court.

The election is scheduled for October 6.

Because campaigning ends on October 4, the custody order limits Pradhan’s ability to campaign.
