Iran, Europe Meet in Istanbul Over Nuclear Program
Imagine Iran made a deal to stop making nuclear stuff in 2015, and other countries lifted some rules.
Now, those countries are meeting because they're worried Iran might not be sticking to the deal.
They could bring back the old rules (sanctions) if Iran doesn't cooperate more.
Iran is saying the U.S. needs to show they're trustworthy, and that Iran has a right to do some nuclear work.
Everyone's concerned because Iran has a lot of enriched uranium, which could be used to make a bomb.
It's all very complicated!
European and Iranian diplomats met in Istanbul to discuss the Iran nuclear program deadlock.
The talks focus on potentially reimposing sanctions lifted in 2015, known as a "snapback" mechanism.
European leaders have indicated sanctions could resume by the end of August if there is no progress.
Iran wants the U.S. to rebuild trust and respect Iran's right to enrich uranium.
Key concerns include Iran's enriched uranium stockpile, recently reported to be over 400 kilograms.
