BJP Accuses Congress, BRS of Undermining Dalit Self-Respect
BJP leaders held a news conference in Hyderabad about the treatment of Dalits in Telangana.
They accused the earlier BRS government and the current Congress government of using Dalits mainly for votes.
They also criticized alleged abusive comments about the Dalit Legislative Assembly Speaker.
The leaders objected to turmeric water being sprinkled outside K Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse after Dalit groups protested there.
They said this action was disrespectful and brought back old discriminatory customs.
They also alleged that Congress youth workers attacked a BJP office and marked Saint Ravidas posters with black ink.
BJP leaders said promises by BRS and Congress to help Dalits were not fulfilled.
They said Narendra Modi’s government was taking practical steps to empower Dalits.
BJP SC Morcha leader Kanthi Kiran accused the previous BRS regime and current Congress government in Telangana of exploiting Dalits as vote banks.
BJP leaders condemned alleged abusive remarks against the Dalit Legislative Assembly Speaker and turmeric-water purification outside K Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse.
The leaders said the purification act revived discriminatory practices and insulted Dalit dignity under the Constitution authored by B R Ambedkar.
