NTPC to Invest ₹10,000 Crore in Chhattisgarh SNG Project
NTPC, a big company that makes electricity, is going to build a new plant in Chhattisgarh.
This plant will turn coal into a cleaner type of gas called synthetic natural gas (SNG).
They are going to spend a lot of money, around ₹10,000 crore, to build this plant.
The plant will be quite big, covering 150 acres, and it will use coal from NTPC's own mines.
The company is working with other experts to figure out the best way to make this gas.
They want to start making this cleaner gas by the end of 2026.
This is important because it will help India use its own coal in a better way and reduce the need for imported fuels.
NTPC plans to invest ₹10,000 crore in a coal-to-SNG facility in Chhattisgarh.
The facility will be located in Talaipalli and will cover 150 acres.
The project aims to produce 5 lakh tonnes of SNG per annum using coal from NTPC's captive mines.
NTPC is seeking technology tie-ups for coal beneficiation and gasification processes.
The technology for the project is expected to be finalized by the last quarter of FY26.
