Resident Arrested Over Kohinoor Apartment Collapse
A building in Bhiwandi called the Kohinoor Apartment fell down.
A man named Amritlal Nishad was taken to police because he was thought to have taken money from people to fix the building and gave the job to a man who later died in the collapse.
Nishad also looked after the building and collected rent.
Police are still looking for the builder, Bilal Abu Bakar Khan, and his helper, Danish Ejaz Ahmed Shaikh, who have not been caught yet.
They want to know if anyone checked the building’s safety before fixing it and if the rules were followed.
Nishad was sent back to the police office until August 5 after a court saw him.
The police are trying to find out what really happened before the building fell.
Resident Amritlal Nishad arrested for allegedly collecting repair money and awarding the contract to Ashok Paswan before the collapse.
Nishad also served as caretaker, managing rent and day‑to‑day affairs of the Kohinoor Apartment.
Police are searching for builder Bilal Abu Bakar Khan and associate Danish Ejaz Ahmed Shaikh, who remain at large.
Investigators are probing whether a structural assessment was done and if safety protocols were ignored.
