Maharashtra FDA Bans Junk Food Within 50 Metres of Schools

The food safety agency in Maharashtra has made a new rule.

No one is allowed to sell junk food within 50 metres of a school.

If someone breaks this rule, they can lose their licence to sell food.

The agency wants to keep children healthy and safe.

The head of the agency, Mr. Tukaram Mundhe, talked about the rule in Pune.

He said parents, schools and food officers will work together to enforce it.

He did not say exactly how the distance will be measured or checked.

The agency is also short of workers, which makes the job harder.

The ban is part of a bigger effort to stop unsafe food from being sold.

The agency may also start checking Chinese food stalls more closely.
