Government considers Rs 15,000 crore CCEA FDI approval threshold

Government considers Rs 15,000 crore CCEA FDI approval threshold

India wants companies from other countries to invest money in India.

This kind of investment is called foreign direct investment, or FDI.

Very big investment plans have to be approved by a top government group called the CCEA.

Right now, plans worth more than 5,000 crore rupees need the CCEA's approval.

The government is thinking about raising that limit to 15,000 crore rupees.

If that happens, smaller government departments can approve bigger investments on their own.

The government says this will make it easier and quicker for companies to invest in India.

India has received a lot of investment money over the years, though the amount of new foreign money coming in has fallen since 2021.

The government is also looking at making indirect investments simpler for foreign companies.
