New Sion Bridge to Ease Mumbai Traffic by 2026
The city is building a new, wider bridge in Sion to help traffic move more easily.
The old bridge was taken down because it was unsafe.
The new bridge will have four lanes and a sidewalk.
It will cost a lot of money and will take a few years to finish.
Officials say the work is going well now and should be done by mid-2026.
BMC is constructing a new 4-lane railway overbridge at Sion to improve connectivity.
The project, costing Rs 60 crore, is a joint venture between BMC and Central Railway.
The new bridge will be 61 meters long, replacing the previous 40-meter structure.
Demolition of the old bridge and related structures began in April, after delays.
The BMC aims to open the new bridge by June 2026, with a buffer month included.
