RBI Cuts CRR and Repo Rate to Boost Economic Growth
The RBI, India's central bank, made some changes to help banks and the economy.
They lowered a key interest rate and also reduced the amount of money banks have to keep with the RBI.
This is meant to give banks more money to lend and encourage businesses to borrow.
The RBI expects that this will help the economy grow.
These actions are also designed to help banks make a bit more money and support overall economic recovery.
RBI cut the benchmark rate by 50 basis points, exceeding expectations.
The Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) was reduced by 100 basis points to 3%.
The CRR reduction aims to inject approximately Rs 2.5 trillion into the financial system.
Nomura anticipates the CRR cut will boost NIMs by 3-12 basis points.
The RBI shifted its policy stance from accommodative to neutral.
