Brydon Carse Dropped as Atherton Weighs England Discipline Debate

Brydon Carse is an England cricket player who was left out of an upcoming match.

Police briefly arrested him outside a club in Derby after saying he appeared drunk and disorderly.

He was released after agreeing to leave the area.

Carse was playing for his county team, Durham, rather than England at the time.

England’s former captain Michael Atherton said the team was right to wait for an investigation.

However, Atherton also said people should not assume Carse did something seriously wrong because the full facts are not known.

England captain Joe Root had recently removed a team curfew.

Root said players would instead be responsible for their own actions.

Atherton argued that Carse’s case shows why that responsibility matters.
