NGT Notes Illegal Sand Mining Violations Near Delhi
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has noticed some serious problems with sand mining near the Yamuna River, close to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
A company called Nirmal Sand and Infra Private Limited was found to be mining sand in places where it's not allowed, even when there were strict rules in place to stop such activities.
They dug too deep and too far from their allowed area, and they didn't follow important environmental rules.
The NGT has given everyone involved four weeks to explain themselves, and the next hearing is on March 17.
The company didn't even plant trees or build proper waste facilities as required.
This is all very bad for the environment, especially the air quality in Delhi.
NGT has taken note of illegal sand mining violations by Nirmal Sand and Infra Private Limited along the Yamuna River near the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border.
The company violated environmental norms, including mining beyond the lease boundary and during Stage-III of GRAP.
The committee found unauthorised ramps, deep excavation, and in-stream mining in the active river channel.
NGT has granted four weeks for all parties to respond to the petition, with the next hearing scheduled for March 17.
The company failed to submit environmental audit reports, plant trees, or construct proper waste facilities.
