Serbia Adopts 2026 Budget with 3% Deficit
Serbia's government has approved a plan for spending and earning money in 2026.
They will spend a little more than they earn, which is okay because it's only 3% more.
The plan includes money for a big international event called Expo 2027, bringing back mandatory military service, and possibly buying an oil company called NIS from Russian owners.
The government has enough support in parliament to pass this plan easily.
Serbia's parliament adopted the 2026 budget with a deficit of 3% of GDP.
Total revenues are set at 2,414.7 billion dinars, with expenditures at 2,751.7 billion dinars.
The budget allocates 164 billion dinars for a potential takeover of NIS from Gazprom Neft and Gazprom.
Capital spending is set at 602 billion dinars, with 47.5 billion dinars allocated for Expo 2027.
The budget includes funds for reintroducing mandatory military service and increasing public sector wages and pensions.
