Novartis India Buys Pfizer’s Minipress Brands for ₹1,250 Crore
Novartis India is buying the Indian rights to two medicine brands called Minipress and Minipres.
It will pay Pfizer ₹1,250 crore for the trademarks and some related intellectual property.
One of the medicines, Minipress XL, is used mainly to treat high blood pressure.
It can also help with urinary problems linked to an enlarged prostate.
Pfizer said it will stop selling the medicine in India on September 7, 2026.
Pfizer is doing this after its parent company decided to stop making the medicine.
Minipress XL earned ₹228.6 crore in the year-based data cited by Novartis India.
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories will keep selling certain other covered brands until September 30, 2026.
The deal and the sales change happened through agreements involving the companies concerned.
