Niva Bupa Q1 Profit Doubles Amid Ind AS Shift
Niva Bupa Health Insurance is a company that sells health insurance in India.
In the first quarter of its 2027 financial year, it made a lot more money than it did the same time last year – almost twice as much.
This happened because more people bought insurance and the company spent less on running the business.
The company also started using a new set of rules called Ind AS, which changes how it records costs and profits.
These rules make the company’s earnings look a bit different, but they also show a clearer picture of how well the company is doing.
Net profit for Q1 FY27 rose to ₹137.8 crore, nearly double ₹71.4 crore a year earlier.
Gross Written Premium increased 32% year‑on‑year to ₹2,150 crore.
Retail health business grew 47% to ₹1,607 crore, boosting market share to 11.1%.
Combined Insurance Service Ratio improved to 100.2% from 103.2%, indicating better underwriting efficiency.
Results reported under Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) with 1/n accounting for long‑term policies.
