Onion Prices May Reach ₹90 per Kilogram Amid Rain Deficit
Onions have become more expensive in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
They currently cost about ₹40 to ₹60 for one kilogram.
Traders say the price could rise to ₹80 or ₹90.
The main problem is that there has not been enough rain.
Less rain has hurt onion crops and caused some new seedlings to wither.
The city needs about 5,000 quintals of onions.
Around 1,700 to 1,800 quintals are arriving at the market each day.
Prices may come down when new onions arrive in November.
Onion prices in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar currently range from ₹40 to ₹60 per kilogram, depending on quality.
Traders expect prices could rise to ₹80–₹90 per kilogram if rainfall remains inadequate.
Daily onion arrivals at the Agriculture Produce Market Committee are currently about 1,700–1,800 quintals.
Reduced rainfall has damaged seedlings and may lower onion cultivation and production in the coming season.
