Karnataka BJP MLAs Walkout Over Gruha Lakshmi Dues
In the Karnataka Assembly, BJP MLAs were upset because the Women and Child Development Minister, Laxmi Hebbalkar, said that women who get money from the Gruha Lakshmi scheme had been paid, but actually, they hadn't been paid for two months.
The BJP MLAs said this was not true and wanted an apology.
The minister first said she didn't mean to mislead anyone and then apologized again.
The BJP MLAs were still not happy and left the Assembly.
The minister also said she was being targeted because she is a woman, which made the situation more heated.
The BJP MLAs think there might be a big problem with the money, but the minister says the money goes directly to the women's bank accounts, so there can't be a problem.
BJP MLAs staged a walkout in the Karnataka Assembly over unpaid Gruha Lakshmi scheme dues for February and March 2025.
Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar initially denied the dues but later acknowledged the lapse and apologized.
BJP MLAs alleged that the minister misled the House and demanded an apology.
The Assembly was adjourned for over an hour due to the protest.
The minister claimed she was being targeted for being a woman, leading to further heated exchanges.
