Indian Deal Activity Softens in May Amidst Market Uncertainty
In India, companies that invest in other companies (private equity) did less business in May than the previous month.
This caused overall investment to be lower, making it the lowest of the year.
But companies buying other companies (M&A) were more active.
A big deal made the M&A numbers look better.
There were a few new, big companies that emerged.
Experts think that business will improve later in the year.
Private equity deal volumes in India fell by nearly a fourth in May.
Total deal value in May was $4.5 billion across 179 deals.
M&A deal value increased by 75% from April, despite a 1% dip in volumes.
Outbound M&A activity saw a sharp rise with 15 deals.
Deal momentum is expected to pick up in the second half of the fiscal year.
