Kishor Accuses Bihar CM of Misusing Machinery in Bankipur By-Poll
Prashant Kishor, the leader of a small political party, says the Bihar chief minister and the BJP used the state’s police and other government tools to help them win the Bankipur by-election.
He says police arrested his supporters without giving any reason.
He also says the police kept his workers away from the polls.
The by-election happened because a BJP leader left his seat to join the Rajya Sabha.
Only about a third of voters turned up for the vote.
Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor accuses Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary and BJP of using government machinery to rig the Bankipur by-poll.
Kishor claims police detained his party leaders and polling agents without formal charges, allegedly at BJP’s behest.
He says the police acted like a political party, keeping Jan Suraaj workers away from election activities.
The by-election was triggered after BJP national president Nitin Nabin vacated the seat to join the Rajya Sabha.
Voter turnout in the Bankipur by-election was 34.30 percent.
