Putin Modi Strengthen India Russia Ties
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited India for two days to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
They talked about how to make their countries' friendship stronger, especially in areas like defence, energy, and trade.
Putin praised Modi for not giving in to pressure from other countries, like the United States, which has put high taxes on Indian goods and Russian oil.
They also discussed big deals for new technology and weapons.
India buys a lot of oil from Russia, but this has caused a big trade imbalance.
They want to fix this by having Russia buy more things from India.
Putin also said that there are no plans right now for a single currency for the BRICS countries, which include India, Russia, and a few others.
The visit was very important because India and the United States are not getting along very well right now.
They also talked about working together to fight terrorism and make sure that the war in Ukraine ends through dialogue.
Putin stayed in a very fancy hotel in Delhi, and they both said that their countries will keep working together to make things better for both of them.
Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not succumbing to international pressure, particularly from the United States, regarding India's Russian oil purchases.
Putin's two-day visit to India focused on strengthening defence, energy, and trade ties, with multiple agreements and MoUs expected in various sectors.
India's trade with Russia has surged to $68.7 billion, but a significant trade deficit of $59.2 billion persists due to high oil imports from Russia.
Potential technology transfer agreements were hinted at, including co-development of hypersonic systems, jet engine technologies, and collaboration in AI and space.
The US has imposed 50% tariffs on Indian goods and 25% on Russian oil imports, straining India-US relations and prompting Putin to question the double standards.
