Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind to Approach Courts Over Saharanpur Mosque Demolition
A mosque in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was demolished.
Maulana Aminul Haq Abdullah of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind says the demolition was unfair and unconstitutional.
He says the proper court process was not followed.
His organisation plans to go to the Allahabad High Court.
It may also approach the Supreme Court.
A deep well was found while workers cleared the rubble.
An Archaeological Survey of India team examined it.
Abdullah said wells were commonly built near older mosques for washing before prayers.
He also said families connected to the land have documents supporting the mosque’s construction.
Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind plans to challenge the Saharanpur mosque demolition in court.
