India Launches Semicon 2.0 to Become Global Chip Hub
India has started a big plan called Semicon 2.0 to make lots of computer chips.
The government will spend a lot of money over twelve years to build factories and teach people how to make chips.
They want India to be a leader in making electronics.
They also have a plan to make mobile phones in India, which will create many jobs.
The first chip factory will open in 2028.
This plan is important because it will help India make its own electronics instead of buying them from other countries.
India launches Semicon 2.0 program to become a global semiconductor hub at a cost of Rs 1,27,500 crore over twelve years.
Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme allocated Rs 62,500 crore to boost domestic electronics manufacturing.
Domestic electronics manufacturing value expected to rise from Rs 1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs 13 lakh crore by 2025-26.
Semicon 2.0 focuses on chip design, manufacturing, research, and talent development with the first silicon fab opening in 2028.
The program aims to create 60,000 direct jobs and yield production worth Rs 39 lakh crore.
