Bombay HC Quashes Money Laundering Case Against Chamankar
Imagine a company was accused of doing something wrong when they built a guest house.
First, the government investigated them for corruption.
But later, a different court said there wasn't enough evidence against the company.
Then, another government agency tried to charge the company with money laundering, but the company said this wasn't fair since they'd already been cleared in the other case.
The High Court agreed with the company and dismissed the money laundering case.
Bombay High Court quashed the PMLA case against Chamankar Enterprises.
The case related to alleged irregularities in contracts for Maharashtra Sadan.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had initially investigated the firm in 2015.
The ACB case was closed in 2021 and the firm discharged.
The court cited the discharge in the ACB case as the reason for quashing the PMLA case.
