RBI Likely to Hold Repo Rate Amid Inflation and Oil Concerns
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is meeting to decide whether to change its main interest rate, called the repo rate.
Most experts think the RBI will keep the rate the same because prices are going up, especially because oil is expensive.
Oil prices can make everyday things cost more.
The RBI also worries about the monsoon, which brings rain and helps keep food prices low.
If the monsoon is weak, food could become more expensive.
The RBI wants to keep the economy growing while making sure prices don’t rise too fast.
So, they plan to wait and watch before making any changes.
RBI expected to keep repo rate unchanged at 6.50% during August MPC meeting.
Retail inflation rose to 4.38% in June, above the 4% target.
Brent crude oil prices above $90 per barrel raise imported inflation risk.
Below‑normal monsoon forecast could push up food prices and fiscal pressure.
RBI will monitor liquidity, foreign inflows, and US Fed policy before any shift.
