Tiger Census Ground Work Commences Across India
The Wildlife Institute of India is starting to count tigers!
They are training forest workers to collect information about tigers and their habitats.
This includes information about their food and surroundings.
The training is happening in different tiger reserves across the country.
They will be using a special method called double sampling to make sure the count is accurate.
The goal is to know how many tigers there are in 2026.
This helps protect these amazing animals.
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is conducting the tiger census.
Training programs have commenced for frontline forest personnel.
Training includes gathering data on co-predators, prey, and habitat quality.
The double sampling method will be used in the forest areas.
The census aims to accurately estimate the tiger population by 2026.
