India names squad for Sri Lanka T20 series
India's women's cricket team has announced their squad for a series of five T20 matches against Sri Lanka.
The matches will be played in December 2025 in two cities: Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram.
The team will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, with Smriti Mandhana as the vice-captain.
Two new players, Gunalan Kamalini and Vaishnavi Sharma, have been included in the squad.
This series is important as it comes right before the Women's Premier League (WPL) in January 2026 and helps the team prepare for the T20 World Cup later in 2025.
India has a strong record against Sri Lanka in T20 matches, winning 19 out of 25 games.
The last time they played was in October 2024 during the World Cup.
Smriti Mandhana, who was recently in the news for her wedding being called off, has shown her dedication by quickly returning to training and being named vice-captain for this series.
