Madakasira Assembly Segment Faces Delimitation Hurdle
The Madakasira area is a voting region that sits inside Karnataka but is part of the Anantapur district.
When the Election Commission checked the voter list, they removed 22,669 names because some were duplicates, people had died, or they had moved to Karnataka.
That left 190,640 voters.
For a region to be split into two separate voting areas, it needs at least 200,000 voters.
Since Madakasira has fewer than that, it is unlikely to be split.
Local leaders are encouraging more people to register to try to reach the needed number.
Madakasira Assembly Segment lies entirely within Karnataka borders but is part of Anantapur district.
Draft voter list shows 190,640 bona fide voters after deleting 22,669 names.
Deleted names were due to double entries, deaths, or migration to Karnataka.
A minimum of 200,000 voters is required for a constituency to be split; Madakasira falls short.
Local leaders urge increased voter enrolment to potentially enable a split.
