Gujarat Police Rescue Woman, Arrest Eight Over Interfaith Marriage Block

A woman in a city called Porbandar, in the Indian state of Gujarat, wanted to get married.

Her family did not want her to marry the man she loved because he followed a different religion.

They took her to an office called the Collectorate to cancel the wedding papers.

The man she wanted to marry, Dheeraj, called the police for help.

The police arrived at the office and took the woman to safety.

Then they arrested eight people, including some of her relatives and a lawyer, for blocking the officials from doing their job.

Now the police are handling the case.

This story shows that sometimes families disagree about who someone should marry, and that the law stepped in to protect the woman.
