Forest Watcher Escapes Bear Attack
A man who works in the forest was walking with a friend to count tigers.
They saw a bear with a baby bear.
The bear got scared and attacked the man.
He used a small axe to scare the bear away, but he got a small cut on his hand.
He was okay and went back to work later.
Many people saw tigers, leopards, and other animals during this counting event in the forest.
The event lasted six days, but in one place, it was moved to February because of a big festival.
A forest watcher was attacked by a sloth bear with a cub during the All India Tiger Estimation in Amrabad Tiger Reserve.
The watcher used an axe handle to fend off the bear and suffered a minor cut on his left thumb.
The bear and her cub were still in the area later, so the watchers returned without installing camera traps.
The six-day AITE reported multiple sightings of tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and deer.
The AITE was postponed in Mulugu district due to the Medaram Jatara festival.
