UK Visa Applications from India Decline Sharply Due to Policy Changes
The UK is making it harder for people from India to get visas.
This is because the UK government has changed some rules and is checking things more closely.
Fewer Indian workers and students are getting visas now.
For example, fewer healthcare workers and their families, along with students and their families, are coming.
New rules mean that to get a job visa, you need a bachelor's degree, and employers will need to change how they hire people.
This is happening after some changes were made in Spring 2024 and January 2024.
UK visa applications from India have fallen sharply following policy changes and stricter scrutiny.
Skilled Worker visa applications decreased to 4,900 in July 2025 from around 6,000 per month previously.
Health and Care Worker visa applications plummeted to 1,300 in July 2025 from a peak of 18,300 in August 2023.
Student visa applications decreased by 3% and student dependant applications dropped by 86%.
New measures will significantly impact hiring strategies and workforce planning for employers.
