Sports Ministry Suspends TTFI Over Governance and Selection Concerns

Sports Ministry Suspends TTFI Over Governance and Selection Concerns

In India, there is a group called the Table Tennis Federation of India, or TTFI for short.

Its job is to run table tennis and choose players for big competitions.

The government's Sports Ministry decided that TTFI was not doing its job well.

The Ministry said TTFI did not hold its elections on time.

It also said TTFI did not take good care of the players, like holding the National Championships late.

And it said TTFI did not pick players in a fair, clear way.

One top player, Manika Batra, said the way she was left out of the Asian Games team was unfair.

Because of all these problems, the Ministry stopped TTFI's recognition.

Now another sports group, the IOA, will help run table tennis for a while.

TTFI can get its recognition back once it fixes its governance.
