Judge Weighs News Outlets’ Bid to Keep White House Ban Blocked

CNN, MS NOW and Politico want their journalists to keep access to the White House.

President Trump’s administration had revoked their press passes.

The outlets say this was punishment for their reporting.

The Justice Department says the outlets published classified and false information and argues the ban is justified.

A judge temporarily stopped the ban in September, saying the outlets likely were not treated fairly.

At the October 8 hearing, the outlets also argued the ban limited free speech.

The judge had not yet decided that claim.

He said he would rule by Tuesday, when the temporary order was due to expire.
