US Launches New Syria Strikes Against IS
The United States recently launched new airstrikes against the Islamic State (IS) in Syria.
This was done to get back at IS for a previous attack that killed two American soldiers and a civilian helper.
The strikes were part of a bigger operation called 'Operation Hawkeye Strike'.
The US worked with some partner forces, but they didn't say who.
Before this, the US had already hit 70 IS targets in another big strike.
Syria's government also said they caught the leader of IS in their area.
The US has been working more with Syria's government since their president was removed last year.
US launched retaliatory airstrikes against IS in Syria following a deadly ambush.
Strikes were part of 'Operation Hawkeye Strike', with previous strikes on December 19.
US forces worked with partner forces, but specific groups were not named.
Syrian officials arrested the military leader of IS operations in the Levant.
US has increased coordination with the Syrian government since the removal of President Assad.
