CSIR-IICT Hands Over 500 KLD ETP to Siripuram
The CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) has given a special water treatment plant to Siripuram village.
This plant will clean wastewater from textile dyeing and homes.
It uses special technology that is good for the environment and saves energy.
The plant will help protect the village's water and land, and it will also support the local handloom artisans who make beautiful fabrics.
This is the first plant of its kind in the area, and it could be used in other places with similar needs.
The plant is part of a bigger effort to make sure that science and technology help people and the environment.
CSIR-IICT handed over a 500 KLD Model Decentralised Combined Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to Siripuram Gram Panchayat.
The ETP treats textile dyeing effluent and domestic wastewater, protecting local water resources and improving environmental conditions.
The plant uses gravity-assisted, chemical-free, and energy-efficient technology, making it suitable for rural and semi-urban textile clusters.
The initiative supports the livelihoods of handloom artisans in Siripuram, part of the renowned Pochampally Ikat handloom ecosystem.
The Siripuram ETP model has the potential for replication and adaptation across similar textile and handloom clusters in India.
