Delhi Metro Reopens 45 Stations After 25-Hour Protest Closure

Delhi Metro Reopens 45 Stations After 25-Hour Protest Closure

The Delhi Metro closed the gates at 45 stations for about 25 hours.

The closures began on Friday night before a protest planned by the Cockroach Janta Party.

Police asked for the restrictions because they were concerned crowds might move toward sensitive places.

The planned protest was about alleged problems with changes to electoral rolls.

Authorities did not give permission for the gathering at Jantar Mantar.

The stations were due to reopen at 6 pm Saturday, but the restrictions lasted until 10 pm.

The Metro then said all station gates were open again.

It also said interchange facilities at the affected stations were available.
