Chennai’s Marina Beach to Get Wheelchairs, New Play Areas
Imagine going to the beach, but it's hard to walk on the sand!
To help people with disabilities and children, the city is buying special wheelchairs that can easily move on the sand.
They're also building new play areas for kids to have more fun.
The plan includes adding rooms for changing clothes, a peaceful space for meditation, and a spot for mothers to breastfeed.
The goal is to make the beach more enjoyable for everyone, and the beach will hopefully be open by the end of June.
Someone will keep the beach clean and working properly.
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is procuring mechanized wheelchairs for Marina Beach.
These wheelchairs are designed for easy movement on sand.
Two additional children's play areas will be constructed.
Facilities such as a meditation room, changing rooms, and a breastfeeding room are planned.
The project aims to open to the public by the end of June and will be maintained by a contractor.
