Nepal Floods: 29 Detained After Cash Safe Is Opened

Floods in Nepal carried a cash safe away from one area and left it near a river in another.

Police say some people opened the safe and took the money.

They detained 29 people and recovered more than 92 lakh rupees.

Police are still checking where the money came from and whether more people were involved.

In a separate case, two people were arrested over alleged theft of earrings from a flood victim.

The floods killed at least 626 people, according to Nepal’s disaster authority.

More than 2,400 people were reported missing.

Rescue teams were still searching for survivors and helping damaged communities.

India also sent a team to help with rescue and medical work.
