Bombay High Court Orders VVMC To Regularise Long-Serving Contract Staff

Bombay High Court Orders VVMC To Regularise Long-Serving Contract Staff

The Bombay High Court considered the case of workers employed by VVMC.

These workers included doctors, nurses and administrative staff.

They had worked for the civic body for eight to 11 years.

However, they were repeatedly given short contracts instead of permanent jobs.

The State and VVMC wanted them to take another written examination.

The court cancelled that requirement for the petitioners.

It ordered VVMC to make their jobs permanent within two weeks.

The court also said public bodies should use permanent jobs when work continues for a long time.
