Indian Railways Announces Fare Hikes and Tatkal Booking Changes for 2025
Starting July 2025, Indian Railways will increase ticket prices slightly.
Non-AC trains will cost a little more, and AC trains will cost a bit more per kilometer.
To ensure everyone has a fair chance at getting tickets, especially the fast-booking ones (Tatkal), you'll need to use your Aadhaar card to book, beginning July 1, 2025.
Booking agents will also have restrictions on when they can book those tickets.
This is all happening to make things more fair and efficient for everyone using the railway.
Indian Railways will raise passenger train fares starting July 1, 2025.
Non-AC Mail and Express trains will increase by 1 paise per kilometer.
AC classes will see a 2 paise per kilometer increase in fares.
Aadhaar authentication will be required for Tatkal bookings from July 1, 2025.
Booking agents cannot book Tatkal tickets for the first 30 minutes.
