Coal India Enhances Quality Compliance
Coal India is using more machines and technology to make sure the coal they send out is of good quality.
They are using big silos to load the coal and special machines to take samples.
This helps them check the quality without people interfering.
They also have independent agencies to test the coal.
Almost half of the coal they sent in the last nine months was loaded through these silos, and they want to increase this to 80%.
They are also investing in new projects and technology to make everything better and more efficient.
This includes real-time quality checks and a system to monitor their mines all the time.
They even have a big washery to clean the coal better.
All these steps help them provide better coal to their customers and reduce environmental impact.
Coal India is increasing mechanization and automation to ensure consistent coal quality and reduce human interference.
The company is using silo-based mechanized loading systems with auto mechanical samplers for quality control.
Third Party Sampling Agencies (TPSAs) are used for impartial coal quality assessment, with 11 agencies empaneled by Power Finance Corporation (PFC).
In 9M FY26, 375 million tonnes of coal were dispatched via rail, with 50% through silos, aiming to increase this to 80% in the current fiscal.
Coal India is investing in 72 First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects with a combined capacity of 843 MTPA, requiring an estimated Rs 27,750 crore.
