Kotak Mahindra Partners with Tata Memorial’s ACTREC for Advanced Cancer Treatment
Kotak Mahindra Prime Limited has teamed up with ACTREC, part of the Tata Memorial Centre, to install a special machine called the SDX® Voluntary Breath Hold System.
This machine helps doctors give very precise radiation treatment to cancer patients.
It tells patients when to hold their breath, which is important for cancers in the lungs, liver, pancreas, and breast.
This way, the radiation only hits the tumor and not the healthy parts around it.
The machine is especially useful for treating cancers that move when you breathe, like liver cancer.
This partnership is part of Kotak Mahindra's effort to make top-quality healthcare available to everyone, especially those who can't afford it.
Over 35,000 patients are treated at ACTREC every year, and this new technology will help many of them get better treatment.
Kotak Mahindra Prime Limited (KMPL) partnered with ACTREC to install the SDX® Voluntary Breath Hold System at its Proton Therapy Centre in Navi Mumbai.
The system helps deliver high-precision radiation therapy by guiding patients to hold their breath during treatment, crucial for motion-sensitive cancers.
This technology is essential for treating cancers in the lungs, liver, pancreas, and breast, where breathing can cause tumors to shift.
The partnership ensures that advanced cancer treatments are accessible to economically weaker patients, with ACTREC treating over 35,000 patients annually.
The SDX® system is the only technology compatible with ACTREC’s proton therapy setup, making it crucial for safe and effective treatment of motion-sensitive cancers.
