Assam Floods: Boy Drowns While Saving Dog
In Assam, a boy named Hridip was trying to save his puppy when the floodwater rose.
He went into the water and was swept away, and he died.
The puppy survived and is still with the family.
Hridip’s parents are very sad and want parents to keep kids close during floods.
They also ask the government to give boats and quick help to people in flooded villages.
The floods in Assam have already killed 78 people and moved many families from their homes.
Hridip, a boy from Bamunpukhuri Tea Estate, drowned on July 19 while trying to rescue his three‑month‑old dog Varun during the Assam floods.
His father recalled that Hridip insisted on taking the dog with him, saying, "Papa, I’m taking Varun with me. You also come."
The dog survived and remains with the family, but Hridip’s mother mourns the loss and urges parents to keep children close during floods.
She also calls on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government to provide boats and rapid rescue teams in every flood‑affected village.
The floods that hit eastern Assam this month have killed at least 78 people and displaced thousands.
