K. Kavitha Proposes Renaming Andaman & Nicobar as 'Azad Hind'
K. Kavitha, a leader from Telangana, wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, asking him to change the name of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to 'Azad Hind'.
She made this request on the birthday of a famous freedom fighter, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who had declared these islands free from British rule during India's independence struggle.
Kavitha believes that renaming the islands would be a great way to honor Netaji's bravery and inspire young people to remember the sacrifices made for India's freedom.
She also thinks it would be a proud moment for the country to reflect the achievements of its freedom fighters on its maps.
The letter was sent from Hyderabad, Telangana, and Kavitha hopes the government will start the process to make this change.
Some people support this idea because it honors Netaji's legacy, while others believe the current names are already significant and widely recognized.
K. Kavitha, daughter of BRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao, proposed renaming Andaman and Nicobar Islands as 'Azad Hind' to honor Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's legacy.
The proposal was made on the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, observed as Parakram Diwas.
Netaji had declared the islands as 'Shaheed Dweep' and 'Swaraj Dweep' under the Provisional Government of Azad Hind on December 30, 1943.
Kavitha believes the renaming would honor Netaji's legacy and inspire the youth with the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
