Saudi Pipeline Shutdown Threatens Global Oil Exports and Supplies

Saudi Pipeline Shutdown Threatens Global Oil Exports and Supplies

A pipeline Saudi Arabia uses to move oil has reportedly stopped working.

This route became especially important because ships are using the Strait of Hormuz much less than before.

Yanbu, the main western oil port, may have only five to seven days of export stock left.

Other Saudi oil stored in Egypt could provide only a few more days.

Saudi oil production also fell sharply in August.

The report says this has helped push oil prices and fuel costs higher.

One source expects repairs to take five or six weeks, while another thinks some pumping could restart sooner.

The situation could make the world’s oil supply tighter if the shutdown continues.
